Before you start collecting data from inspections, the last step is creating the beehives that you want to keep notes on. So select the apiary you want to insert beehives that you want to create and give them a name and group.

You can use beehive groups for better organization. Group beehives according to some similar features, like bought queens or new beehives etc. Now its possible for you to check their growth as a group.

Somewhere dry and sheltered from the prevailing wind, with morning sun, water within a few hundred metres and forage within about three kilometres. Face the entrance away from paths and neighbours; a hedge or fence a couple of metres in front sends the bees up and over people.
Choosing an apiary site »Not in one go. Foragers fly back to the exact spot they know, so a hive moved a few metres loses its field bees. Move it less than a metre a day, or take it more than three miles, about five kilometres, away for three weeks before bringing it to the new spot.
The three feet or three miles rule »As many as the forage around it can feed. A handful is typical for a garden or hobby site, and twenty to forty works for an out-apiary on a large flow. When colonies on one site keep producing less than the same bees elsewhere, that site is full.
